Balkan Transit has for over 20 years played Balkan music, and we combine our Western tradition with the Bulgarian.
From the Western tradition the group brings an electric bass, a guitar, a harmonica and part-singing. From the Balkans, we have retrieved Kaval-flute, tambura (stringed instruments) and Tupan (drum) and a series of songs and melodies that tell about the area's unique position as a concentration point between east and west. The songs are about love, loss, struggle, death and the joy of dancing - just like the songs all over the world doing it. But in the Balkans, they make it in a way unlike any other, and that not yet has been discovered and rendered harmless by popular music.
